Key Information:

Music Cities Forum is part of the Music Cities Events conference series and had already seen two sold-out editions take place in 2018 in the USA and Canada, before heading to Cannes for its first 2019 edition.

The event was held on June 6th at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, as part of MIDEM, one of the leading global conferences for the music community taking place each year in the heart of the famous French Riviera city.

The event kicked off with a presentation by Jordi Puy, CSO and co-founder of Sound Diplomacy, who explained why the industry should care about the concept of Music Cities and why ehanced dialogue and cooperation is much needed to see the music industry and our cities thrive.

A panel on the sustainable development goals shed light on the responsibilities of the music industry, as well as the valuable contribution that the sector is making towards the achievement of global goals such as gender equality, reduced inequality and climate action.

The morning was rounded off with a debate featuring local council members and music organisations representatives: the discussion explored the relationship between music and economic growth by covering topics such as education, branding, investments programmes and more.
